Paws and Pause

A paw-fect work placement

One of our WorkStart students is having a fantastic time on her work placement with Paws and Pause in South London. The organisation is a social enterprise offering day care for dogs in the local area. Their social mission is to “support people who have been long term unemployed back into sustainable employment”, so it’s a brilliant company to be working with.

Shanice is passionate about working with animals and she has already completed two other work placements to ascertain which area of animal care she would like to work in. She’s having a great time caring for the dogs, grooming and feeding them, and taking them for long walks twice a day alongside the rest of the Paws and Pause team.

Jodie, one of the company’s co-founders, says “Shanice has really grown in confidence while working with us, she’s doing brilliantly.”

Shanice said “I’m really enjoying working here. I brushed all the dogs’ hair last week and they loved it! Taking them for walks is great and I’m taking on more responsibilities.”

With her positive attitude and openness to try different workplaces, Shanice is taking huge strides towards realising her goals and securing work in the animal care sector. Keep up the great work, Shanice!
