Careers Event at Camberwell Road
Students at Orchard Hill College’s Camberwell Road and Lomond House recently took part in a Careers Fair, bringing together employers committed to creating real opportunities for young people with SEND.
The event welcomed a wide range of organisations, including:
- City of London Police
- Thames Water
- Workstart Courses
- DFN Project SEARCH Supported Internships
- Share Community
- Grow Wild
- Higgins Group
- Disability Confident
Students from Orchard Hill College and local schools had the chance to speak directly with employers about training pathways, apprenticeships and supported internships. For many, it was an opportunity to ask honest questions, build confidence and start thinking seriously about next steps.
Careers events like this are about more than leaflets and stands. They show students that inclusive employment is not an aspiration – it’s happening now. Nationally, adults with disabilities are still less likely to be in work than non-disabled people, so creating direct links between students and inclusive employers matters.
Staff were proud to see students engaging so positively, asking thoughtful questions, sharing their ambitions and representing themselves brilliantly.
