This week, we are celebrating all things Apprenticeships in support of the National Apprenticeship Week campaign.

Three members of staff at Carew Academy received their formal qualifications from NFCE CACHE having completed a Level 2 Certificate or Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools as well as various Functional Skills certificates whilst studying at Orchard Hill College.

They were all extremely positive about their apprenticeship journeys and keen to keep progressing with their personal development and further education. This is what they had to say.

Ebru – “I loved the course, I Iearnt so much and developed new skills and strategies that I could demonstrate in the classroom. I have now started my Diploma in Education and Training and the dream is to be a fully qualified teacher at Carew.”

Debbie has been promoted as a result of her Level 3 apprenticeship and is now a Senior Learning Lead. She said: “My story illustrates that gaining a formal qualification and the depth of knowledge and new skills acquired along the way can be hugely rewarding. The apprenticeship has made me more confident and rounded in my role.”

Demi said: “The apprenticeship has been such a positive experience, I have developed many specialist skills such as risk assessment and behaviour support that I can assertively put into practice at school. The Level 3 diploma is my next challenge.”
