Celebrating Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Success at Buckingham Palace

Students from Orchard Hill College’s Southwark region recently celebrated an incredible achievement as they attended a prestigious Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award celebration at Buckingham Palace.

The event brought together Gold Award holders from across the country to recognise the dedication, resilience and commitment required to complete the highest level of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award programme.

Held in the grounds of Buckingham Palace, the celebration welcomed thousands of young people and their guests for a special day of recognition, hosted as part of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award’s 70th anniversary year. The event gave award holders the opportunity to celebrate alongside other young people who have completed the challenging programme and reflect on everything they have achieved throughout their DofE journey.

Achieving a Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is a significant accomplishment, requiring participants to complete volunteering, physical, skills, expedition and residential sections over an extended period of time. The award is designed to build confidence, independence, teamwork and resilience while encouraging young people to challenge themselves and develop valuable life skills.
