Celebrating the Impact of DFN Project SEARCH Supported Internships

We’re proud to congratulate Georgia, a DFN Project SEARCH Supported Intern, on her fantastic work at Hillingdon Council.

Georgia has been recognised for leading the design and layout of the Council’s LGBT+ History Month display, bringing creativity and a strong eye for detail to a vibrant and informative board celebrating the history and achievements of the LGBT+ community. Her professionalism, initiative and confidence were clear throughout, a great example of a young person thriving in a real workplace.

Georgia’s success reflects the impact of DFN Project SEARCH, a supported internship programme that helps young people with an EHCP move from education into paid employment. Nationally, DFN Project SEARCH programmes achieve employment outcomes of around 60–70%, compared to approximately 25–30% for young people with learning disabilities overall. This shows just how powerful the right support and expectations can be.
