Mayor of Hillingdon Visits Clubhouse

Students, families and staff at Orchard Hill College’s Clubhouse in Hillingdon were delighted to welcome the Mayor of Hillingdon, Cllr Philip Corthorne to a recent event at Brunel University.

The Mayor spent time chatting with students and parents, taking in the atmosphere and seeing first-hand the impact Clubhouse is having. From the dancefloor to the social spaces, it was clear this is more than just a night out.

Speaking during his visit, the Mayor shared how impressed he was with the initiative, admitting he hadn’t realised opportunities like this were available locally. He also highlighted how important spaces like Clubhouse are in helping young people feel included and part of their community, and expressed his support in helping to raise awareness.

Clubhouse is a monthly club night designed specifically for young people aged 16+ with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). It provides a safe, welcoming space to socialise, build friendships and enjoy an experience many take for granted.

But the impact goes further. Clubhouse supports confidence, independence and real social connection, giving young people the chance to be themselves in an environment built around their needs.
