OHC at Sutton Life Centre – a new chapter for our community

We’re excited to share some amazing news, Sutton Life Centre is officially open. This vibrant new space is designed to make a real difference for young people with SEND aged 16+ as they take their next steps into adulthood.

Sutton Life Centre is truly unique and represents the first provision of its kind in the region.  The centre combines education, sport, and life skills development under one roof, creating a holistic approach that empowers young people to thrive academically, socially, and personally. By pioneering this model, Orchard Hill College and its partners are setting a new standard for SEND education and inclusion.

Created in collaboration with specialist partners, Sutton Life Centre offers an inclusive, purpose-built environment where learners can access tailored support, and opportunities that reflect their individual aspirations.

What makes Sutton Life Centre special?

This isn’t just a building, it’s a community hub where opportunities come to life. The Sutton Life Centre is the result of a strong partnership with a range of organisations that have come together to introduce an innovative new provision designed to reach post-16 learners with SEND.

Together, these partnerships have created a multi-use space – provision that is responsive, sustainable and tailored to young people with SEND and the wider community.  It’s a setting that inspires independence and confidence while supporting a wide range of complex learning needs. Inside, you’ll find:

  • Orchard Hill College Centre – offering specialist education and training.
  • Preparation for Adulthood Hub (run by Sutton Council) – helping young people with SEND plan for the future.
  • Beans and Bloom Café – a welcoming spot run by Orchard Hill College students, providing hands-on work experience.
  • Community Library – a place to learn, relax, and connect.
  • Outdoor Climbing Wall & All-Weather Sports Pitch – for fun and fitness.
  • Sensory Garden – a calming space for wellbeing.

It’s all about creating an inclusive environment where education, health, independence, and employment support come together.
