This Learning Disability Week we’re proud to share that Orchard Hill College is a Disability Confident Employer, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to inclusion and equality in the workplace.

The Disability Confident scheme, developed by the Government, encourages organisations to think differently about disability and take action to improve how they recruit, retain and develop disabled people. Achieving Disability Confident Employer status demonstrates that Orchard Hill College has not only committed to the scheme but has actively implemented inclusive practices.

The acknowledgement reflects ongoing work to create a supportive environment for staff and students alike. This includes accessible recruitment processes, tailored workplace adjustments and a strong culture that values diversity and individual strengths.

As part of the Level 2 accreditation, Orchard Hill College has committed to inclusive recruitment practices and providing appropriate support throughout the employment journey. The College also aims to continue raising awareness and promoting understanding of disability across the workforce.

The recognition aligns closely with Orchard Hill College’s broader mission to support learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), both in education and employment.
