Project SEARCH Interns Celebrate Black History Month in Hillingdon

Project SEARCH interns hosted a fantastic awareness event for Black History Month at the Civic Centre in Hillingdon.

Throughout the day, the interns shared what they’d learned about inspirational black figures who made a lasting impact on history, culture and civil rights. Each intern researched two individuals and created posters to showcase their achievements and the impact they had on the Black History Movement.

Intern Rohan delivered an engaging presentation to staff and visitors passing through the Civic Centre, while his fellow interns shared their research and posters with staff in the canteen. Together, they explained what Project SEARCH is all about and why Black History Month matters.

The group received amazing feedback on both their knowledge and their professionalism. Many staff stopped to ask questions about their research and to discuss the importance of representation and inclusion. The event was a great opportunity for the interns to practice communication and presentation skills, while celebrating the incredible contributions of black
individuals throughout history.

Across the region, other students also marked Black History Month with African drumming, singing and dancing, and enjoyed tasting a range of Caribbean and African dishes  prepared especially.
