Student awarded at the House of Lords
On Thursday 23rd May student Evie was invited to attend the CoSLP awards which took place at the House of Lords. The event was hosted by Lord Tope and there was a special speech by Sir Kenneth Olisa.
Here is Evie’s report on the event:
I went with my Mum, Indy, Caroline and Kelly to the awards ceremony. We went on the college minibus and it was a good journey. We had a cup of tea, scones and cakes and sat on a table with the fastest under 17 runner who had also won an award. Every teacher came to the front with their student and gave the award to them whilst telling everyone why they had won their award. I really enjoyed it when Kelly spoke because I liked other people to know about all my good work. We had our photos taken with our certificate, prize and gift card. It was good. I gave a special speech to say thank you to my teachers for nominating me. The winners came to say congratulations to me and I said congratulations to the other 13 winners.
Evie said: ‘It was a really good experience and I really enjoyed going to the House of Lords. I really enjoyed getting the award for my good work at college. It was really fun.’
Caroline (Senior Teaching Assistant) said: ‘It was an amazing day and we are all really proud of Evie and her hard work. She is an excellent ambassador for Orchard Hill College and we were thrilled to share the day with her.’
