Students interview OHCAT Supported Intern for ‘Education Unfiltered’ Podcast
Students Morgan and Joseph recently welcomed Skylar onto the Education Unfiltered podcast to discuss her experience as a Supported Intern and how the programme has supported her personal and professional development.
During the interview, Skylar shared what it is like working in a Marketing role, speaking openly about her day-to-day responsibilities in the office and shared a insight in her role, explaining what a typical day in the office involves and the responsibilities she carries out as part of the team and how Supported Internships help individuals develop valuable employability skills.
She also discussed how the programme benefits both students and staff by creating an inclusive and supportive environment and how the programme helped her gain confidence, improve her workplace skills, and access paid work opportunities.
As part of the discussion, Skylar also reflected on the different rotations she completed throughout her internship journey, including placements in Facilities, Admissions, and MIS. These experiences helped her develop a broad range of skills and discover her interest in Marketing.
Students asked Skylar a number of thoughtful questions about her role and career pathway, including what skills are most important in Marketing, how she got started in the industry, what she enjoys most about the job, and the challenges she faces in her role.
The interview highlighted the positive impact Supported Internships can have on both students and staff by creating inclusive opportunities and helping young people prepare for the workplace.
Recorded at Orchard Hill College Head Office, the conversation was led by Morgan, Joseph, who posed thoughtful and engaging questions. They were supported by Simon, E-Learning Assessor and Digital Learning Lead, who provided additional insight and guidance throughout the session.
