Students quiz Local Councillor for National Colleges Week
Our students took centre stage during National Colleges Week when they had the opportunity to interview Councillor Rob Beck, Vice Chair of the People Committee and SEND Champion at Sutton Council. The Q&A session held at the Sutton Life Centre, formed part of a special student produced podcast celebrating the week and highlighting the importance of specialist Further Education (FE).
Students were eager to explore a broad range of topics with the Councillor. Their questions touched on the importance of specialist FE, the skills young people need for their future, mobile phone use in schools, his responsibilities as a councillor and even his favourite pizza!
The students were enthusiastic, confident and professional in their approach, while Councillor Beck proved to be an engaging and insightful guest. The interview is part of a series of student led podcasts ‘Westminster Unfiltered’.
